Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. announced another milestone for the 5th-generation all-new Honda City as it received a 5-star rating in the latest ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia) test of vehicle safety standards. The world premiere of the all-new Honda City took place in Thailand in November 2019 and it has since received feedback with over 16,000 bookings (from November 25, 2019, until March 15, 2020).
The all-new Honda City Turbo achieved a 5-star rating with an overall score of 86.54 out of 100, including a frontal offset impact test, side impact test, and evaluation of safety features. The new model also received impressive scores of 44.83 for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 22.85 for Child Occupant Protection (COP), and 18.89 for Safety Assist Technologies (SATs). Additionally, the Honda City was the first model of Honda awarded by ASEAN NCAP in 2012 and it has maintained its excellent 5-star rating for safety performance since the 2nd generation. This time, the all-new Honda City Turbo that underwent the testing was an SV* variant that is manufactured and distributed in Thailand.
The all-new Honda City Turbo is equipped with a wide range of advanced safety features including a G-Force Control (G-CON) body structure, six airbags*, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), and Multi-angle Rearview Camera. It’s powered by a new 1.0 liter DOHC 3-cylinder, 12-valve VTEC TURBO engine that delivers a maximum 122 PS and maximum torque of 173 newton-meters and offers driving performance superior to a 1.5 liter engine (as compared to the old model) and torque equivalent to a 1.8 liter engine. The engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to ensure ultimate fuel efficiency of 23.8 kilometers/liter. The all-new Honda City Turbo is also more environmentally friendly as it has a CO2 emission rate of only 99 grams/kilometer.
