“Bangsaen Grand Prix” 2018 soon to Roar OutOn 11-15 July, a Troop of over 200 Racers to Join the Thrilling Races Free Admission throughout the event, yet Billions of Baht is expected
The 12th Bangsaen Grand Prix, the street circuit, is about to roar out and elevated to be an international motorsports racing event, as over 200 car racers from 24 nationalities are joining the thrilling races that will take place during 11-15 July 2018 at “Bangsaen Street Circuit, Chonburi province, one of the most exquisite circuits in the world. Car racing fans can join the spectacle closely for free along the racing track throughout the distance of 3.74 kilometers. Over 300,000 motorsports fans are expected to join the event, generating over billion baht of income to the province. The event will be live broadcast on free TV or on online platforms to over 3 million watchers all over the world.
Mr. Sontaya Khunplome, Chairman of the Sports Association of Chonburi Province, says “Bangsaen Grand Prix” or Thailand Super Series to be held at Bangsaen Street Circuit which will close off the beachside road for this 12th racing event, is to confirm the readiness of Chonburi province in being the ‘International Sport City’ as the event is drawing car racers from 24 nationalities along with over 2,000 staff team to join the racing festival. This will uplift the Thai motorsports to the international level with higher and better racing standard.
Mr. Preeda Tantemsapya, Vice Chairman of Bangsaen Grand Prix 2018, reveals that there will be 13 series during the races that will take place during the upcoming 11-15 July, 2018. The races range from ecocar race upto GT-3 which will have a troop of world-class supercars such as Bentley, Lambogini, Ferrari, Porche, McLaren and Audi joining the thrilling races. Over 200 racecar and supercar racers of 24 nationalities will be joining the speed racing along Bangsaen beach, going through 20 curves, with the total distance of 3.74 kilometers. Leading Thai racers such as Suttipong Smittachartch, Voravud Bhirombhakdi, Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak, Nattavude Charoensukhawatana, Nattpong Hortongkum, Tin Sritrai, Kantadhee Kusiri are also joining the races with all the leading world-class racers.
As for the races, fans can get free spectacle of the major race “Thailand Super Series” which include Thailand Super Car GTM Plus, Thailand Super Car GTM, Thailand Super Car GTC, TCR Thailand, Thailand Super 2000, Thailand Touring Car, Thailand Super Pickup, Thailand Super Compact, Thailand Super Production, Thailand Super Eco , Cayman GT4 Trophy Thailand, and TA2 Thailand; as well as Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and TCR Asia Series. Bangsean Grand Prix continues to get support from Toyota Motorsport which help bring in this thrilling race for fans to enjoy to the max.
In addition, this year, Porche will bring 28 racing cars to join in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia rally at Bangsean Street Circuit as part of celebrating 70th anniversary of Porche. Porche will bring in legendary racecars and racers such as Jacky Ickx, who raced Porsche 959 to the finish point of at the very tough Paris – Dakka rally more than 20 years ago and now serves as Porche’s brand ambassador to the event. Another one is Will Bamber, the racer from Porche plant team, who will come in a Porsche 919 Hybrid which won in the Le Mans rally in 2016 and 2017. The classic yet rare Porche 356 will also be on the show for fans of speedy and classic Porche to admire at the event.
Mr. Preeda says the 12th Bangsaen Grand Prix is expected to draw more than 300,000 audiences to the racing track. Mr. Narongchai Khunplome, Mayor of Saensuk Municipality, who is in charge of the rally site, confidently says that ‘Bangsaen Grand Prix 2018’ will help confirm the image of Chonburi as being an international tourism and sports city. He expects that Bangsaen Grand Prix 2018 will attract more than 300,000 tourists and speed racing fans to Bangsaen and will generate more than one billion baht to the city definitely.
